Cleopatra Necklace

If you're looking for new ideas for jewelry making with beads, why not try this Cleopatra Necklace? It's a great way to make a very vintage looking necklace without spending a ton of time or money. Besides, who wouldn't want to be Cleopatra?

If there's anything more annoying than instructions that use components that are no longer available (as per earlier comments), it is this link to a non-existent web site to get the instructions (sigh). Happens too often here!

This is a very easy project. And if you use semiprecious stones it would really have a regal look to it. Jasper and agates are very N expensive and you can find them on eBay. I have gotten some very nice ones there. Thank you so much for this inspiration. I can see it in my mind already!

Search for 15-18" top drilled flat rectangle beads. There are loads to choose from - wooden to semi precious and graduated that would work for this project.

I, like the other commenters, find it frustrating that a design shows items that cannot be found. A possible solution is to make your own beads out of polymer clay or air dried clay such as porcelain. The air dried clays can be dyed using materials suited for those clays. The air dried beads would be lighter but also more fragile. Either one of these possibilities make the design definitely your own.

I, like the other commenters, am frustrated that the beads used in this project are 'no where to be found'! However, a possible remedy is to make your own using polymer clay beads or even an air dried clay such as porcelain. The air clay can be very fragile but it's extremely light weight and can be colored using various methods for coloring air dried clays. This would truly make the design a one-of-a-kind.

I find this instruction to be totally useless The beads that make this necklace so spectacular are not available Fire Mountain has a set of abalone fanned beads but nothing llike the ones shown I have purchased on other sites tutorials that do the same thing Show picture of the completed project and then tell you that none of the components are available Not only do I find this frustrating and annoying but consider it to be misleading in that I have purchased to make something similar and was attracted to the finished product by the picture which turns out to be unavailable Your projects are at least free which is a bonus to you but a waste of time for me and a few others from what I have read of the comments I wonder why you still feature a project that you know is not able to be completedRead More Just my opinion but I feel that the site should at least check if the components are available before featuring on your site

katrogers1759, thank you for the hint. Yes, I have looked there but have never found them yet. I buy more from them than anywhere else.

@Maxs Lady, I found this fan of amethyst gemstone beads that might work! Not Mother of Pearl, but still gorgeous! http://www.cutratecrafts.com/product.php/sku/296110 --Editor of AllFreeBeadedJewelry

I have searched many times for the dyed mother of pearl beads that are shown in the Cleopatra necklace but I have never been able to find where I can order them from.
