Portia Lawrie, Miss P Hi! My name is Portia. I am a mum and a serial “maker,” and I have been blogging about my makes since 2009. You can find me over at Miss P. It all started with my wanting to learn dressmaking, and so I started a blog to document my progress and connect with likeminded peops. Since then it’s kinda snowballed into an obsession with DIY and handmade in general, so you’ll find all manner of makes on my blog these days. I guess I resent buying something when I know I can make it, usually cheaper, and to fit my exact specifications. That aside, there’s immense satisfaction to be had in the challenge of learning to make something with your own two hands.

I dabbled in jewelry making as a teenager but more recently have been having fun designing and creating my own pieces using a variety of techniques, some traditional to jewelry making, some less so! I like my pieces to be a bit quirky and fun, with just a nod toward current trends.
