Laura Piantanida
Laura Piantanida has been working for Prime Publishing LLC for more than three years and is an editor for AllFreeJewelryMaking and a member of the hiring team. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Rhetoric from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Before joining Prime, Laura worked as a digital producer at a TV news station, and as an editor at the Daily Illini student newspaper. Laura has been exploring various outlets for her creative energy since childhood, such as crafting, theater, creative writing, and sewing.
Like many other beaders, Laura’s first experience with jewelry making was knotting macrame friendship bracelets as a child. After joining the Prime Publishing team, Laura quickly fell in love with jewelry making, and loves bead weaving and stringing. Laura’s favorite type of patterns to make are statement necklaces—she feels naked without one! She recently learned the Cellini spiral stitch technique, which is her current favorite form of beadwork.
When she is not making jewelry or writing about jewelry making, Laura loves to spend time with her shelter dog, read, crochet, experiment in the kitchen, sew, and write.
