Dora Moreland, Show, Tell, Share
I was born and raised in Hungary. High school barely ended and I was on a plane to New York. I worked as a nanny there for a year and went to school mainly to learn English. My best friend persuaded me to stay in the United States by marrying me.
Since I am a stay at home mom of 4 boys, crafting for me is relaxation. I sew, knit, spin wool into yarn and of course make jewelry.
I started making jewelry about 10 years ago. I remember getting a Nordstrom catalog in the mail and seeing a gorgeous beaded necklace in it. It was very expensive, but the more I looked at it, the more I felt that I could make it myself.
I looked up the address of a local bead store and took the picture of the necklace and just asked them to direct me towards the right beads and tools. The ladies at the store kindly showed me basic stringing and the rest is history. I love working with semi-precious gemstones, and lately I took an interest in clay.
In an effort to keep in touch with friends, I started a craft blog a few months ago. We get to share recipes, tutorials, ideas or just show off what we made. I love reading what these talented women make in their spare time and I am constantly inspired to try something new.
