Materials:

  • Fuseworks™ Microwave Kiln
  • Fuseworks™ Kiln Paper
  • Fuseworks™ Glass Cutter
  • Fuseworks™Black Sheet Glass
  • Fuseworks™Red Frit & Green Frit
  • Round Link Bracelet – Antique Copper (remove 1 link = 10 discs)
  • E6000® Glue

Instructions:

  1. Use a glass cutter and cut 2 - 1 ¼” x 3/4” black rectangles. Cut 16 black 3/8” x 3/8” squares.

  2. Next, cut a 2” X 2” piece of kiln paper. Remove the lid from the Fuseworks™ Kiln. Place the kiln paper on the kiln base.

  3. Center the black Rectangles (stacked 2 high) on the kiln paper. Sprinkle red frit in a cluster ¼” from the top and sprinkle green frit lightly below the red. Leave approximately 1/8” at the bottom. If any frit gets on the kiln paper or base be sure to remove it before firing.

  4. Carefully set the base with glass inside the microwave. Cover base and glass with kiln lid.

  5. Fuse in microwave at 100% for 2 minutes. PLEASE NOTE: All microwave and kiln combinations will have different firing patterns. Be sure to take careful notes and log all fusing times for future use.

  6. After the initial firings, open microwave and, using Hot Mitts, carefully lift the lid enough to inspect the fusing process. Add additional time in 30 second increments until desired results are achieved. Remove kiln from microwave using the Hot Mitts and place on a heat resistant surface. Cool the kiln for at least 30 minutes with the lid on. Removing the lid or peeking under the lid during the cooling will result in your piece cracking. Glass remains hot for a long time and should be handled with great caution.

  7. Once cooled set aside.

  8. Cut a 2” X 2” piece of kiln paper. Remove the lid from the Fuseworks™ Kiln. Place the kiln paper on the kiln base.

  9. Evenly space the 3/8” black squares 2 high on the kiln paper. Be sure to leave at lease 1/8” between stacks.

  10. Carefully set the base with glass inside the microwave. Cover base and glass with kiln lid.

  11. Fuse in the microwave at 100% for 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

  12. After the initial firing, open microwave and, using Hot Mitts, carefully lift the lid enough to inspect the fusing process.

  13. When cool, glue the fused rectangle to two discs in the center of the bracelet. Glue the 3/8” fused glass cabochons to the other 8 discs. Use a glass adhesive such as E6000®. Allow it to dry according to glue manufacturer’s directions.
